Regional Martial Arts Alliance: Kumdo Training
Kumdo is a Korean Sword Art and is composed of many types of training, such as meditation, basic movements, sword patterns, cutting and sparring techniques. Each type has a different purpose for developing Kumdo students. The techniques of RMAA, as taught by Certified Examiner Master Jen Lourey, have been developed through training under Great Grand Master Moo Yong Yun and training in Seoul, South Korea.
The techniques and movements of Kumdo are beautiful and dynamic, with a balance of speed, power and accuracy and oneness with Body, Mind and Spirit. Kumdo, like other martial arts, requires discipline and a dedication to training. A new student begins with learning the basics such as etiquette, different postures and footwork, and how to properly swing a sword. As you gain speed, skill and accuracy, you will have the opportunity to test and move to the next level with more advanced material including patterns, techniques and sparring.
This online course will take you through 8 Gups (colored belt) levels with training time requirements, live online classes, student materials/manual, technique videos and online testing. There are 8 colored belt levels to reach Dan (black belt) level. The Black Belt testing is an in-person requirement.
