It was in the late 1880's when French physicians discovered anti-bacterial properties of essential oils such as oregano, angelica, Chinese cinnamon, and geranium that killed off yellow fever. During World War II, military hospitals were using essential oils such as lavender for its wound healing and antiseptic properties. Early written work/laboratory tests using essential oils such as these and many other discoveries are published in hundreds of books and translated in hundreds of languages today.
